The Evolution of Substation Security Walls
There are many reasons why substation utility walls gained such an increase in their utilization. In the olden days, substations were situated far from residential areas. However, with the increase in population, buildings and the expanding of residential areas’ premises, the substations which we far found themselves into the heart of the community. Hence, the chain fencing which was once perfectly suitable for surrounding substations became unfunctional.

To safeguard the substation’s infrastructure from the public, the colored plastic slats inserted in the chain-link came into use. But as prices of copper increased, the substations’ equipment and fences themselves became a target of thieves.
In order to avoid these issues, the substations shifted onto more solid and reliable utility wall options. Precast concrete utility walls are the best option is such regard.
Precast concrete utility walls have an edge over other types because they are more solid, provide higher security, install faster and are aesthetically pleasing. Moreover, when the requirement is of tall walls, the concrete walls prove cheaper in expense than CMU walls. The tall walls also minimize the threats of break-ins, theft, and vandalism.
